Robert H. Desch, Jr., 52, passed away on Sunday evening, May 9, 2021 at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading, PA after a couragous battle with COVID-19. Born September 8, 1968, he was the son of the late Robert H. Desch, Sr. and Barbara A. (Ballinger) Desch of Allentown, PA. He was the loving companion of Laura Axt, with whom he shared over 18 years of happiness.
Robert was an avid bowler and softball player. He was a current active member of the Township of Spring Fire and Rescue, West Lawn, PA where he held the positions of Lieutenant, Treasurer and Trustee. He enjoyed family trips to Florida and was an enthusiastic Disney and Sea World fan. Robert enjoyed fishing, spending time outdoors and was always the master of barbecuing on his grill. He was a varsity baseball player at David Brearley High School, Kenilworth, NJ. He enjoyed working on cars all throughout his life and would always help others with his handy-man skills, his gardens always reaped the benefits of his green thumb! Robert was a huge sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team and the Cincinnati Reds baseball team. He loved being a father and had a way with his pets, especially his cats named Screwball and Lexi. He also enjoyed going down to his brother-in-law's house in NJ for barbecues and parties, he was always up for a good laugh and taking memorable selfies! He enjoyed being a selfproclaimed professional bartender and DJ! Robert also enjoyed being the big brother to many kids in his hometown of Garwood, NJ. Robert worked as a HVAC Technician for Home Serve/UGI for over fifteen years in the Reading area.
Surviving along with his mother and companion are sons, Robert F. Desch, at home and Nicholas Desch, of Lewes, DE, brother, Matthew Desch and wife Crystal of Coplay, PA, sister, Carol Desch of Bullhead City, AZ, and nieces and nephew.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 12:00pm- 1:00pm at the Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. John's U.C.C. Cemetery, Laurys Station. Public is asked to continue to wear facial coverings while indoors.
