Robert W. Merkel, Sr.

Robert W. Merkel, Sr., 79, of Palmerton, Pennsylvania, passed on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at his home.  Born in Lehighton, he was the son of the late Walter R. and Dorothy R. (David) Merkel.  He was the loving husband of JoAnne (Fogel) Merkel since June 25, 1994.

Robert was a self-employed electrical contractor for over 46 years, retiring in 2002.  He was a life member of the Bowmanstown Rod and Gun Club and Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company.

Survivors: Wife.  Daughters, Sharon wife of Blase Anzalone of LaMesa, CA, and Donna wife of David Keller of Reading, PA.  Sons, Robert Jr., and wife Sheryl Merkel of Forest Inn, Dennis and wife Penny Merkel of Trachsville, and Matthew Merkel of Palmerton.    Sister, Barbara Balliet of Lehighton.  Brother, Stanford of Gouldsboro, PA.  4 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.  Many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Delores.
