Ronald J. Betz

Ronald "Bim" J. Betz , 65, of Mauch Chunk Road, Palmerton, Pennsylvania, died suddenly Wednesday morning, April 10, 2019, in his home.  He was the longtime companion of the late Mary A. (Steigerwalt) Shuck-Betz who passed in 2015.  Born in Tamaqua, he was a son of the late Freeman, Sr. and Dorothy (Fry) Betz.

Ronald was employed by Deka Battery, East Penn Manufacturing for many years until retirement.  He was a 1972 graduate of the Tamaqua High School.  Ronald served his country honorably in the Army, Stateside Peacetime, achieving the rank of SP4.  He was a member of the American Legion Oplinger-Hower Post 899, and the Blue Ridge Rod and Gun Club, both of Lehigh Township.

Survivors: Daughter, Tonya Betz of Nesquehoning.  Stepdaughter, Nicole Walp-Miller of Sinking Spring. Sister, Shirley Miller of Gilbert. Brother, David and wife Lynette Betz of Mahoning Valley. Granddaughter, Bryana Shuck of Sinking Spring.  Nieces and Nephews. Friends. He was predeceased by Sisters, Nancy, Wanda, Sandy, and Helen, Brothers, Freeman Jr., and Robert and Granddaughter, Danielle Walp in 2016.

Services: Memorial Services, 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, PA 18071.  Call, 10:00-11:00 a.m., Wednesday in the funeral home.  Interment is with Military Honors at Dinkey Memorial Cemetery, Ashfield, PA 18212.
