Ronald D. Kunkle, 73 of Hereford, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends, on Friday, October 7, 2022, at VNA Hospice House at St. Luke's, Bethlehem.

Born Wednesday, March 9, 1949 in Allentown, he was the son of the late Jean L. "Jack" and Muriel (Achey) Kunkle. Upon graduating from Liberty High School, Bethlehem, Ron enlisted in , and honorably served in the US Navy. He was a long time employee in grounds supervision at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. and later became a long distance driver for Dan Schantz Nurseries.

His love for animals and the great outdoors was an intricate part of his life. Ron rode in rodeo bull riding competitions, and owned a farm in Hereford, PA, where he had a plethora of animals, great and small. His horses, pigs, turkeys, geese, chickens, emus, and peacocks could always be found roaming around his farm. His appreciation for nature was evident in all his outdoor activities. He enjoyed his sleigh rides by his Persians on his farm, traveling to Rehoboth Beach, DE, Chinncoteque and Assateoague to kayak with the dolphins and to see the ponies swim. Ron was also a member of the Blue Spruce Riding Club.

He was survived by his brother James L. Kunkle, niece, Gwen Kunkle-Holtgrewe, great niece, Amanda Holtgrewe, and his long time friend Jan Mayer.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ron's memory to the animal shelter of your choice.
