Sandra (Sandy) Horton Eichler died on September 5, 2018 at Lehigh Valley Hospital while receiving hospice care. She had been ill for 4 years. Sandy was born in East Stroudsburg, PA. September 20

, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Clayton R. Horton and Helen Messinger Horton of Portland, PA. She was the wife of George R. Eichler, MD.
She graduated from Stroudsburg High School. She received an Associate of Arts Degree from Centenary College in Hackettstown, N. J., and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She met her husband George R. Eichler, MD while both were working at The Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. They were married September 6, 1958. She and her husband celebrated their 60
th
wedding anniversary on the day she died. Sandy worked as a nurse and business manager in her husband's family practice in Portland, PA. She managed the former Messinger LP Gas business in Nazareth for six years. She managed the Turn Inn Restaurant in Bath as well. Sandy was a member of the Grace Church of Bethlehem. She was an active member and past Regent of the Liberty Bell Chapter (Allentown) of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. She also served as Regent of the Bethlehem, PA Chapter. She belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem, the Northampton County Medical Society Alliance and was a life member of The Muhlenberg (now Lehigh Valley) Hospital Center Auxiliary. She was a member of the 1899 Society of Lehigh Valley Hospital and the Circle of 1848 Society at Muhlenberg College. An avid reader, she also loved the theater and ocean cruises.
She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Beth wife of Steven Hodges of The Woodlands, Texas and Karen wife of Robert Armknecht, Jr. of Scottsdale, AZ. She has three grandchildren, Kathryn Helen Hodges, Caroline Hope Armknecht and Robert Graham Armknecht III.
A Memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Grace Church Bethlehem located at 521 E. Locust Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. Arrangements are under the care of Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067.
In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to the Leonard Pool Society- Muhlenberg Hospital or Lehigh Valley Hospice both c/o the funeral home.
