Sherwood W. Green

Sherwood W. Green, 94, of Palmerton, PA, died peacefully early Thursday evening, March 19, 2026, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Irene D. (Mohr) Green who passed in 2019. Born in Kunkletown, he was a son of the late Herman and Stella (Redline) Green.

Sherwood was a 1949 graduate of the former Slatington High School. He was employed for over 35 years by the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. After retirement, he worked parttime for the Country Junction General Store, Forest Inn, and served as Zoning Officer, 32 years, for Lower Towamensing Twp., finishing up in 2008. A life member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Trachsville, he also was a member of the former Palmerton Exchange Club, and the Grundsau Lodsch Nummer Elfe an der Feierlein in Karbon Kaundi. Sherwood enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time in the mountains, vacations with family and many years of gatherings.

Survivors: Daughters, Sharon wife of Michael Steigerwalt of Bowmanstown, Amy wife of Jeffrey Sander, Leanne wife of Michael Samok, all of Palmerton, and Donna wife of Philip McGarry of Lehighton. Son, Sherwood "Woody" and wife Robyn of Waretown, Ocean County, NJ. Sisters, Madeline Krawchuck of Laurel, MD, Eunice wife of Lewis Smith, Colleen wife of Larry Bleiler, all of Slatington, and Donna wife of John Stahler of Center Valley. Brother, Dennis and wife Joann of New Tripoli. He was very proud of his 11 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. Nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter, Renee Costenbader Tokarczyk, and sisters, Ann Loy, Elaine Jones, and Diane Schlauch.

Services: Memorial Services, 11:00a.m. Saturday, March 28, 2026, Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville), Pennsylvania 18071. Call, 10:00a.m.-11:00a.m., Saturday in church. Interment, Church Cemetery, Towamensing Twp. Arrangements, Campton Funeral Home, Palmerton.
