Shirley A. Eckhart

Shirley A. (Gross) Eckhart, 88, of Silver Creek Senior Living at St. Augustine, FL, formerly of Cherryville, Lehigh Twp, PA, died peacefully Monday morning, October 10, 2022, in her home. She was the wife of the late Richard D. Eckhart who passed in 1991. Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late William G. and Irene E. (O'Brien) Gross.

Shirley was employed in the customer service department of Eastern Light Company, and then later for AmeriGas Corporation in Allentown until retiring in 2003. A member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Indianland, she served on the Consistory and as President of Women United for Christ. Shirley attended George Wolf Elementary School, Northampton Junior High, and Senior High School where she was a member of the Majorette Squad. She coached girls' softball at Lehigh Twp Athletic Association and served as the treasurer. She was a board member of the Lehigh Twp Historical Society, member and past treasurer of the Lehigh Twp Lioness Club, and a member of Order of the Eastern Star, #235 Rose Croix Chapter, N. Catasauqua.

Survivors: daughter, Beth A. Mahoney wife of Paul of Cornelius, NC. (Paige, Scott) son, Michael D. of Cornelius, NC (Alisha, Arianna): 2 nieces, Pat Csencsits and Brenda Csencsits; She was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Fava and nephew Larry Csencsits.

Services: St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 787 Almond Road (PO Box 969), Cherryville, PA 18035. Visitation 10:00AM, OES Service 10:50AM, Church Service 11:00AM. Interment, Indianland Cemetery 12:00PM, all held on Thursday, October 20, 2022.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the St. Paul's United Church of Christ Memorial Fund in memory of Shirley Eckhart.
