Stover E. "Ed" Ruch, Jr ., 85 of Northampton, PA formerly of Whitehall, PA, and Phillipsburg, NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Inpatient Hospice Care in Allentown, PA. Born Saturday, July 9, 1938, in Bethlehem Twsp., PA he was the son of the late Stover E. Ruch, Sr.  and the late Anna (Schissler) Ruch. He was the husband of the late Barbara L. (Lentz) Ruch who passed away August 19, 2017.

After graduation from High School, Ed went on to serve his country in the US Air Force as a Airman 2nd Class. After returning home from service, he started a career in Law Enforcement, earning a patrolman position with the Phillipsburg Police Department. Ed, worked his way through the ranks finishing a 25 year long career as Lieutenant and retiring in June of 1986. Along with a commendable career of keeping the residents of Phillipsburg, NJ. safe and secure, he was an active participant and involved in the community by serving as past Vice President of the Steele Hill Boys Club from 1970-1977, served on the Phillipsburg Athletic Commission, served on the Phillipsburg Parks and and Recreation Committee, instrumental in starting the Phillipsburg Block Watch Program, and former past Treasurer of the Chessman Jr. Drum & Bugle Corps., Easton, PA. He was also active with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop #56 Minsi Trail Council, serving as assistant Scout Master for a period of time as well as serving as Advancement Chair for the Troop Committee from 1977 - 1986. When living in Presidential Village, Whitehall, PA he served a few years as the Home Owner Association President. Ed was a member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall, PA.

Surviving are son, Robin E. Ruch and fiancé Tracie Auray of Allentown, PA; step-son, Scott Dieter and wife Kelly of Huntington Beach, CA, Step-daughter, Karen Dieter of Ogdensburg, NY, granddaughter, Keara Ruch, Philadelphia, PA, 3 Nephews; Edward Flynn and wife Stephanie, Thomas Flynn and wife Ellen, and Brian Flynn and wife Linda. He was predeceased by a sister, Mrs. Florence Flynn.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday July 5, 2024 at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3355 MacArthur Road Whitehall, PA 18052 with the Rev. June E. Wann officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the services. Interment with Military honors will follow in Faith Evan. Lutheran Ch. Memorial Garden. Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067 has been entrusted with his care and services.
