Susan Elaine Scearce , 66, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, after a long illness. She was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, aunt, stepmom, pet mom, and friend who cherished her family above all else. Susan's kindness and unwavering love for those closest to her defined her life and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Susan had a sharp mind and a playful spirit. She loved planning family get-togethers, listening to rock music—especially Heart and Queen—watching old movies, reading, and indulging in wordplay. She won countless games of Scrabble and confidently tackled New York Times crossword puzzles. The beauty and spiritual energy of Sedona, AZ, fascinated her; she often joked about building a family compound there.
She was a dedicated professional, using her impressive communication and organizational skills as a corporate Office Manager and Executive Assistant at Bombardier Transportation in Manhattan and at Merck & Co., Inc. in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Survivors: Susan is survived by her husband, Greg Scearce; stepchildren, Lissa Scearce and Michael Scearce; siblings, Mary Beth Jones, Paul Jones, and Laura Duffy; in-laws Steve Scearce and Jan Crider, Carolyn Grisdale, Nancy Silver and Charlie Hochstedler; step-nephew Bryan Grisdale; and nieces and nephew, Caitlin Duffy, Sarah Duffy, Hannah Duffy, and James Duffy, who will forever hold her in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie Jones and Robert Jones.
Services: Susan's family will honor her memory in a private gathering.
