Terry E. "Unc" Schaffer , 75 of Northampton, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at St. Luke's Hospital - Anderson Campus in Easton, PA surrounded by love as he was called home. Born on October 18, 1948, in Wescosville, PA. He was the son of the late Franklin H. "Cowboy" Schaffer and the late Annie M. (Holben) Schaffer. He was the husband of Gail A. (Fritz) Schaffer with whom he would have shared 28 years of marriage this August 16, 2024.

At the young age of 10 years old Terrys first job was picking potatoes, he then went on to be paper boy, he started as a dishwasher at the Peter Pan diner and then worked his way up to a line cook. Terry was last employed as a Foreman for U.G.I., Bethlehem, PA, for 29 years.

Less than 2 months after turning 21 years old Terry was drafted to serve in the Vietnam War. His birthday being the 5th date to be drawn in the draft. Terry made his way to Sergeant in the US Army. Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 11th Infantry Regiment of the first Brigade, 5th Infantry Division.

Terry was a member of Jordan U.C.C. Church, Allentown, PA, and a member of the Egypt V.F.W. Post #7293, Whitehall, PA. He was a proud friend of Bill W. for the past 21 years.

Terry enjoyed oldies music, going to concerts, fishing, swimming at the Northampton pool, playing board games, loved 5000 rummy, and most importantly his bi-weekly poker games. Terry was known for his home-fries & eggs and his homemade french fries which he never allowed anyone to help prep or cook. Terry had no loyalty to local sports teams as he rooted for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, and Duke basketball. Terry took pride in his Pennsylvania Dutch heritage and lived by the motto "You ain't much if you ain't dutch".

Surviving along with his wife Gail are daughters, Donna M. wife of Mark Shupp of New Tripoli, PA, Desirae M. Schaffer and fiancé Steph Krebs of Northampton, PA, Christine M. wife of Paul Ruch, Jr. of Coplay, PA, brothers, Rev. Franklin Schaffer of Emmaus, PA and Larry Schaffer and wife Nancy of Brentwood, CA; 2 beloved grandchildren; Tyler and Kiersten, a great granddaughter Joan, grand dogs and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Norman and Robert Schaffer, sisters, Hope Hopper and Joyce Schelly.

Services: Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 24, 2024 from 10-11:30. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 all at Jordan U.C.C. Church, 1837 Church Road, Allentown, PA 18104.

Future Interment will be in Fort Indiantown Gap Cemetery, Annville, PA.
