Thelma N. Smith

Thelma N. (Nothstein) Smith , 95, of Hoffman Road, Lehighton, East Penn Township, Pennsylvania, died peacefully Wednesday morning, June 30, 2021, in her home.  She was the wife of the late Stewart N. Smith, who passed in 1992.  Born in Mahoning Township, she was a daughter of the late Andrew L. and Katie E. (Kemmerer) Nothstein.

Thelma was employed in the canning department, later secretarial, for Wos-Wit Foods, Tamaqua, for 21 years retiring in 1991.  Previously, she worked in the teletype/recording department of the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation.  She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bowmanstown.  A 1943 graduate of the Lehighton High School, she later graduated from Bethlehem Business School.

Survivors: Daughter, Sandra M. wife of Terry Wade of Boyertown.  Son, David R. Smith of East Penn Township.  Daughter-in-law, MaryJane Smith of Forksville, Sullivan County.  9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  Sister, Betty Nothstein of Lehighton.  Several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by son, Richard S., daughter-in-law, Cynthia Smith, and brother-in-law, Robert Nothstein, sisters, Pauline Cunfer, and Gladys Bausman, and brother and wife, Lawrence and Dolly Nothstein, granddaughter, Shanna Marie Smith, and an infant great-grandson.
