Toshi Tsurumaki, 91 of Fort Washington, Maryland, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.
Born February 15, 1931 in Niigata, Japan, he was the son of the late Yasuji and Misa (Shimakura) Tsurumaki and husband of Diana Z. (Valters) Tsurumaki.
He was a medical doctor and general surgeon practicing for many years in the Maryland and Washington D.C. area. He also served as a Police Surgeon for the D.C. Police Department. In addition to his accomplishments as a surgeon, he was a skilled artist and enjoyed cooking, classical music, travel, and the natural world.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Chris Tsurumaki and partner Christine King of Nazareth, and Marc Tsurumaki and wife Carmen Lenzi of New York City, sister, Hiroko Nakamura of Niigata, Japan, and grandchildren, Erik Tsurumaki, Emily, wife of Jack McNeel, Kai Tsurumaki, and Lucia Tsurumaki. Toshi was a loving father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
