Willard "Bill" W. Dunbar

Willard "Bill" W. Dunbar , 86, of Gun Club Road, Palmerton, Towamensing Township, Pennsylvania, died peacefully Friday evening, June 18, 2021, in his home.  He was the husband of the late Joanne R. (Smith) Dunbar, who passed in November 2020.  Willard and Joanne marked their 60th Wedding Anniversary last July.  Born in Mahoning Township, he was a son of the late Melvin W. and Ida M. (Haman) Dunbar.

Bill was employed for 39 years in the brass foundry department of the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Lehigh Plant, retiring in 1992.  He was also the owner/operator/lifelong farmer of Bills Acres, Towamensing Township, known especially for his sweet corn.  Bill served his country with honor and was an Air Force Veteran, Peacetime, achieving the rank of A/2C.  He was an active and lifetime member of the Palmerton Rod and Gun Club, Palmerton VFW Post #7134, Bowmanstown Rod and Gun Club, as well as both the Towamensing Volunteer Fire Company and the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company.  Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman over the years.

Survivors: Daughters, Ruth A. Kresge wife of Farrin Frable of Palmerton, and Tammy S. wife of Franz Kormann of Forest Inn. Son, Glenn A. and wife Alicia Dunbar of Palmerton.  7 grandchildren, Desiree, Chuck Jr., Danielle, Dana, Dustin, Kayla, and Erika.  3 great-grandchildren, Charlie, Savannah, and Benjamin.  Sisters, Gloria Senechal-Dotter of Lehighton, Sallie Klotz of Walnutport, Mary Dotter of Ashfield, and Lillian McFarland of Palmerton.  Brother, Melvin F. and wife Linda Dunbar of Palmerton.  Numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by brothers, Marvin, Myron, and Richard.

Services: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 24, 2021, Palmerton Rod and Gun Club, 250 Gun Club Road, Palmerton, PA 18071.  Call, 10:00-11:00 a.m., Thursday at the Gun Club.  Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Towamensing Cemetery, 3rd Street and Fireline Road, Palmerton, PA 18071.  Arrangements, Campton Funeral Home, Palmerton.  Online Condolences may be left for the family at: www.schislerfuneralhomes.com .
